Overview of Rotary Furnace Equipment:

Scrap aluminum or alloy aluminum ingots are melted into molten aluminum in the melting furnace, producing a certain amount of aluminum dross that floats on the surface of the molten aluminum. Due to different feed materials (such as electrolytic aluminum water, pure aluminum ingots, alloy aluminum ingots, scrap aluminum, etc.), the amount of aluminum dross produced during the melting process varies. During the rake-out process, some of the molten aluminum is raked out along with the aluminum dross. The metal aluminum content in this type of hot aluminum dross is approximately 40%-60%. It is necessary to effectively recover and treat this hot aluminum dross, especially since the aluminum dross volume in the recycled aluminum industry is large, and it contains a high proportion of mixed iron, copper, and stainless steel parts, making conventional dross treatment methods difficult to resolve. The application of rotary furnaces greatly improves recovery efficiency and utilization rates, creating higher economic benefits for customers. Shamm Company manufactures rotary furnaces in four specifications: 3T, 5T, 8T, and 12T.

1.1 Application Features of Rotary Furnaces:

a. The combined use of rotary furnaces and screening-type cold ash barrels is an ideal equipment to replace small ground furnaces and vertical rake ash machines for processing large quantities of aluminum dross.

b. From the current usage, rotary furnaces are an ideal tool for aluminum dross treatment during the aluminum melting process and are a crucial guarantee for operational costs and profits in the aluminum industry.

c. The function of the rotary furnace is to process hot dross raked out from the furnace and other cold dross. Through the rotation of the barrel and stirring by a forklift, it separates and precipitates molten aluminum from the dross, obtaining higher purity molten aluminum.

d. The treatment process of hot aluminum dross in the rotary furnace does not require an external heat source; it can utilize combustibles in the aluminum dross to increase temperature. There is also no need for slagging agents or heating agents, reducing the energy consumption and cost of treating aluminum dross.

e. To prevent excessively high temperatures inside the rotary furnace, causing explosion and excessive burning of aluminum dross, coarse ash screened from cold ash barrels, along with some aluminum scraps and small raw aluminum, can be added during operation to prevent flying slag and control temperature while improving recovery rate.

f. It can process large quantities of both hot and cold dross with high recovery rates. Dust emission points are concentrated, making environmental protection easier. The dust generated during production is controlled, reducing labor intensity and significantly improving environmental pollution from dross treatment.

1.2 Technical Improvements to Shammmah Rotary Furnace:

a. The front cone section of the barrel uses mullite castable refractory material to enhance the wear resistance at the furnace mouth, while the inner barrel is made from non-stick aluminum castable to extend its service life.

b. The drive mechanism employs a durable and sturdy cycloidal pinwheel reducer.

c. A frequency converter is used for starting to reduce the impact caused by direct start-up and extend the lifespan of all transmission components.

d. An automatic lubrication device is adopted to oil various bearing parts, preventing faults due to dry oil.

e. The diameter of the hydraulic cylinders has been increased, and the hydraulic station has been enlarged to improve issues related to high oil temperatures.

f. The steel structure design has been improved, and support strength has been increased to prevent structural deformation.

g. Discharge method: Hydraulic cylinder tilting for dumping.
